Key Information on Title Additions for Federal Diplomas and Certificates
Great news for our students and alumni: the Federal Council has decided to further strengthen professional tertiary education. Starting October 1, 2026, the new title additions “Professional Bachelor” and “Professional Master” will be introduced for federally recognized qualifications. This significantly increases the international comparability and recognition of your AZEK qualifications.
What changes specifically? Along with existing protected titles, graduates of higher professional education will in future be entitled to use the following internationally recognized designations:
-
Professional Bachelor: For holders of a Federal Diploma of Higher Education (Federal PET Diploma / Advanced Federal Certificate / PET College degree).
-
Professional Master: For holders of an Advanced Federal Diploma of Higher Education (Federal Diploma).
Who is affected? This change applies to all holders of a corresponding qualification. The regulation applies retroactively: as of October 1, 2026, you may use the new title addition regardless of when you completed your AZEK qualification.
When do the changes take effect? The revised Vocational Education and Training Ordinance (VETO / BBV) comes into force on October 1, 2026. From this date onwards, the new designations may officially be used in business correspondence, on CVs, or on platforms like LinkedIn. For future graduates, the additions will be printed directly on their diplomas.
Do you have any questions? Further details regarding implementation can be found on the official SBFI website or by contacting us directly.
